Stephen has lived and worked in South Yorkshire since the start of his teaching career and has taught Music at secondary schools across the region. He now works as Director of Specialisms (Music and Languages) and Head of Music at Queen Elizabeth's School, Gainsborough - a selective grammar school and specialist college for Music and Languages. Throughout his adult life, Stephen has enjoyed leading and participating in amateur and professional music making. He has taken singing roles with the Sheffield Light Opera Company and has worked as Musical Director for a number of church choirs, The Sheffield Limelight Theatre Company and the South Yorkshire Police Male Voice Choir. As well as serving as our musical director, Stephen is also musical director for the Gainsborough Choral Society; and he continues to work professionally as a pianist, accompanist, conductor and church organist.
Having joined the
D.W.S. in June 2001 Angela is a relative newcomer to the organisation.
However, she was born and raised in Doncaster and has been involved in
both musical and theatrical activities locally since the age of 10 years. Angela
studied the clarinet at the Junior Department of the Guildhall School of Music
with Rosie Moss, at Trinity College of Music with Pete Howes and at Bretton Hall
with Tony Houghton. She also studied singing with Jean Allister and is herself
an accomplished pianist. Having gained her degree in Music and as a qualified
secondary Music teacher, she recently worked as a woodwind peripatetic teacher for
Doncaster Local Authority. Angela’s interest in singing has also led her to
take part in several amateur operatic musical productions, therefore gaining
valuable experience both on and off stage. Simon Corner, BMus (Hons) Simon Corner was born in Doncaster and began studying piano at the age of 6 years. Simon was a student of music at Hull University graduating with a BMus (Hons) degree in 1998.
